Month, week, day and year views, events and series, alerts, categories, public holidays from any country, lunar dates, and syncing with Google, iCloud and your phone.
On this page
The Calendar page
The Calendar page has four layouts, picked at the top right:
- Month: every day with its numbers (done, events, notes) and a summary of the month. Tap a date to open that day in a panel beside the month, with its events and tasks in words.
- Week: the seven days of the week on their hours. On a phone it shows 3 days from the date instead.
- Day: one date on its hours.
- Year: a heatmap of the tasks you finished each day.
The arrows step back and forward, and Today returns. On a phone, swipe the calendar sideways to do the same: left for the next month, days or year, right for the one before. The title and arrows stay put while the calendar slides. Weeks start on Sunday unless you pick Monday in Settings › General. Saturdays are blue and Sundays and public holidays red, as Korean calendars print them.

Under the title, the Calendar page has four tabs: Calendar, Events (every event in a range, with filters), Series and Event notes (everything you wrote on events). Back returns to the tab you were on before, and to the Events list with its filters as you left them.
Events
Add an event with the + button on the Calendar page or in the schedule on any day page. The event panel saves as you go, with no Save button. An event has:
- a title, an icon and a colour,
- when it starts and ends, or all day,
- Repeat (daily, weekly on chosen days, monthly, yearly, or lunar yearly) with Until a date or a number of times,
- a category, people, tags, pins, a place and notes,
- up to three alerts.
Changing a repeating event asks whether the change is for this time or every time.
In the Week and Day layouts you can drag on empty hours to make an event over that time, drag an event to move it, and drag its top or bottom edge to change when it starts or ends. On a touch screen, hold still for a moment before dragging so the hours still scroll under your finger.

Events in one line
You can also type an event into the add sheet on any day page, the way you would say it. A time makes the line an event:
- When:
12:30,3pm,noon, a range like3-5pmor9:30-9:45, or a length likefor 90 min. With no end it lasts an hour. An hour with no am or pm is read the way plans are usually made: 1 to 6 in the afternoon and 7 to 11 in the morning, unless the line says morning, lunch, dinner or tonight. - Which day:
fri, tomorrow, oct 30and the other dates quick add reads. With none it is the day you are on. - Where: the words after
at, such asat Blue Bottle Seongsu. - Who:
with Minji, with Minji and Joonor@Minji, for people already in People.
The sheet shows the event's title, day, time, place and people as chips before you add it. Tap a chip's × to keep those words in the title, or Add as a task (or the time's ×) to add the line as a task after all. A deadline such as by 5pm stays a task. This runs on your device, so it works offline and with encryption on.
Done, skipped and countdowns
Any time of an event can be marked Done or Skipped, with a comment, from its panel. A timed event counts down ("in 42 min") from the same time it shows under Coming up in the control center, an hour before unless you change it, and is outlined in red with In progress while it is on, with the time left. Settings › Calendar › Clocks and countdowns sets each clock to the minute, to the second or hidden, and Count down from sets how early, the same setting as the control center's. On the 24-hour clock, times and countdowns keep two digits each, like 08:05:03.
Time blocks
To set time aside for a task, use Block time in the task's panel, or drag a task by its handle onto a half hour of the day's timeline. Once its time has passed, a block shows whether the task was done in it.
Places and maps
The Where field finds places on Naver Map and Google Maps as you type. Pick one and the event shows a map card with buttons to open the place in your map apps. Pasting a place shared from Naver Map or Google Maps works too. A second field keeps what the address does not say, such as the floor or how to get in. Your saved locations come first in the list, and a map place you pick becomes one of them by itself.
Settings › Calendar › Map apps chooses which apps' buttons show under a place and on map cards. Google Maps is on and Naver Map is off unless Rollov is in Korean; switch either on or off.
Series and event notes
A series is a run of events that share notes, such as a weekly 1:1 or a book club. It can be one repeating event, events you add by hand whenever they happen, or both.
- Series › New series in the event panel makes a series and opens its page, so you can name it and set it up; back returns to the event.
- An event in a series shows Series notes, shared by every event in it, above its own notes.
- Other times in the panel lists the series' earlier times with their marks and comments, so last week's notes are there when this week's meeting opens.
- The series' page sets what new events in it start with: a category, a time and length, a place, people and a notes template.
Each Rollov event also has its own page, where the arrows step through a series' times one after another.
Categories
Categories colour-code the schedule: Work and Personal to start with. Rename, recolour, add and remove them in Settings › Calendar › Event categories. Chips above the schedule filter it: tap a category to show only that one, then tap others to add them.
Event alerts
An alert is a push some minutes before an event starts, sent to every browser and app where you allow notifications.
- In the event panel, Alerts has the usual times, Custom… (up to four weeks before) and Use the default.
- Settings › Reminders › Event alerts sets the defaults for timed and all-day events, and whether events from your other calendars get alerts too (off by default, since those calendars usually alert already).
- An all-day event's alert counts back from the day's alert time, so "1 day before" arrives the day before.
Holidays and lunar dates
The calendars show public holidays in red, with the holiday's name on the day. Korea's are there to start with, including substitute holidays, election days and the days around 설날 and 추석.
To see other countries' holidays, open Settings › Calendar › Holidays and lunar dates, search for a country and tick it. You can pick as many as you like, such as Korea and the US; with more than one, each holiday's name on the day page says whose it is. Tap a country's chip to take it off, or take them all off to show no holidays. Holidays outside Korea come from the open date-holidays database and are updated with the app.
The same card turns on lunar dates (음력), which show on every day of the month and on the day page.
With lunar dates on:
- an event's Repeat offers Every year on lunar 8/15 for its start's lunar date, which other calendars Rollov writes to also show on the right days;
- a person's birthday or other yearly date can follow the lunar calendar. See Dates.
Your other calendars
Rollov shows the calendars you already use beside its own events. Connect them in Settings › Calendar.
The calendars themselves have a page of their own, since the list grows with every account: the Calendars tab on the Calendar page (Settings › Calendar links to it under Your calendars). It lists Rollov and every other calendar under the account it's in, as in your phone's calendar app: each Google address, iCloud, the calendars kept only on this phone, and calendar links. Tap an account to fold or unfold it; its header says how many of its calendars are shown. The switch beside each calendar shows or hides its events. Tap a calendar's name to see only its events; the Events tab's Calendar filter does the same.
In the Events list, each event says which calendar it's in: another calendar's name with its account's icon (Google, your phone, a link), or Rollov for your own events once other calendars are shown beside them. On a day's schedule, only events from other calendars are labelled, to keep it short.
The pencil beside a calendar opens its settings in Rollov: give it another name (its own name stays in its calendar app and is shown underneath, with a way back to it) and pick its colour. Nothing changes in the calendar it comes from. Refresh reads it again now.
When you open an event from another calendar, its own description shows as it is there and can't be changed from Rollov. Write your own notes in its comment instead: they stay in Rollov. Remove from Rollov hides that event here only and leaves it in its calendar; the calendar's settings can show removed events again. In calendars Rollov can change, Delete in … deletes it from that calendar itself, after asking.
Google Calendar
On the web and in the Android and iOS apps, Connect beside Google Calendar asks Google for access to your calendar list and events. Your Google events then show in Rollov, and you can change or delete single events from Rollov's event panel. Rollov asks only for what it needs: reading your calendar list, reading and changing events, and the calendars it makes. Your Google events are read again about every 15 minutes, even while Rollov stays open.
Rollov in Google Calendar keeps a "Rollov" calendar in your Google account with your Rollov events, time blocks and open tasks' due dates. Changes made to that calendar in Google come back into Rollov: the newer change wins, and an event you add to it in Google becomes a Rollov event.
In the apps, Google's page opens in your phone's browser and comes back to Rollov when you're done. The connection belongs to your account, so every device you use sees your Google calendars, and Rollov reads them on its server. This is the way we recommend: once a Google account is connected, Rollov stops showing the same account's calendars from your phone, so nothing shows twice, and Rollov in Google Calendar reaches every device without a separate copy on each phone.
iCloud, Fastmail and other CalDAV calendars
On the web, iCloud, Fastmail and other calendars connects any CalDAV account with its server, your username and an app password (not your account password). iCloud and Fastmail are filled in for you. They then work like Google Calendar: their events beside yours, single events changeable from Rollov, and a Rollov calendar there kept in step both ways.
Your phone's calendars
In the Android and iOS apps, Settings can show the phone's calendars, including Google and iCloud accounts set up on the phone. Their events are read on the phone and not stored by Rollov. Rollov reads them again every minute while it's open, so changes made in your phone's calendar show up within a minute. Rollov on this phone keeps a Rollov Events calendar on the phone with your events and time blocks, so other apps and your watch see them. Due dates stay out of it unless you turn on Due dates on this phone, which keeps them in a separate Rollov Tasks calendar. Because they are two calendars, you can show or hide each one in your phone's calendar app.
One calendar per category goes further: each event category (Work, Personal…) gets a calendar of its own on the phone, and events with no category and time blocks stay in Rollov Events. Under Calendars on this phone, the pencil gives any of them another name or colour on the phone only; by default they match Rollov. Rollov never shows its own calendars back to you as other calendars, and if your Google or iCloud account also has a Rollov calendar, Settings warns that your phone shows each event twice.
Calendar links and files
- Calendar links: paste an
.icsorwebcallink (a team calendar, a sports schedule) to show it read only. It refreshes every hour. - Import a calendar file: Settings › Calendar › Calendar files imports an
.icsfile. Importing the same file again updates the events rather than duplicating them. - Download the Rollov calendar as an
.icsfile from the same place. - Subscribe from another app: a private feed link lets another calendar app subscribe to Rollov's events and due dates (not available with encryption on).
People at events
A Rollov event can hold the people who were there. Once an event has begun, Log people met records the meeting on their pages. Today's page can also suggest who you were with at the past week's events, from the guests on your calendars. See Contact from the calendar.
