Where Rollov runs
One account works everywhere and syncs between your devices:
| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Any browser | my.rollov.app, on a computer, tablet or phone |
| Android | The Rollov app for Android |
| iPhone and iPad | The iOS app is on its way; until then, install Rollov from Safari (below) |
| Mac and Windows | The desktop app, downloaded and installed outside the app stores |
| Any phone or computer | Installed from the browser, so it opens in its own window like an app |
Everything you write is kept on your device first, so every version works offline.
Install from the browser
- Android (Chrome): open my.rollov.app, then tap Install when Rollov offers it, or the browser menu's Add to Home screen.
- iPhone and iPad (Safari): open my.rollov.app, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- Computer (Chrome or Edge): open my.rollov.app and click the install button in the address bar.
Installed this way, Rollov opens in its own window, starts without a connection and can show reminders where the system allows web notifications.
The phone apps
The Android and iOS apps add what a browser cannot:
- Home screen widgets, app icon shortcuts and Siri.
- Your phone's calendars and contacts. See phone calendars and phone contacts.
- Fingerprint and face unlock for the app lock.
- Reminders as native notifications.
- Sharing text and links into Rollov (Android).
Exports and attachments open the share sheet, where you save them to Files or Drive or send them on.
The desktop app
The Mac (macOS 11 and later) and Windows apps open Rollov in a window of its own that keeps its size and place. They update with the web app, so you always have the newest version without a new installer. Links to other sites open in your browser, and exports go to your Downloads folder.
Tabs and split view
On a wide screen, pages open in tabs along the top. Days is always the first tab. A tab shows a small outline of what it holds (an event, a note, a task, a tag…) before the item's own icon, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Point at a tab to see what it is and its name, such as Note · Weekly review.
- Ctrl-click (⌘-click) or middle-click a link to open it in a new tab; right-click for Open in new tab and Open side by side.
- Drag a tab onto the page to show two pages side by side in one tab, with a divider you can move.
- The list button at the right end of the tabs shows every open tab in a column. Search them by name, click one to show it, close one with ×, or open a new tab with +. Drag a tab by its handle (⠿) to put it in a new place; the tabs above the page follow.
- Right-click a tab to rename it, give it an icon or a colour, duplicate it or close others.
- Save tabs saves the open tabs as a tab group to open again together later. The Tab groups page lists them.
Phones and tablets open pages one at a time.
Working offline
Rollov keeps your data on your device and syncs it when you are online. Offline you can do everything except what needs the server: AI features, connecting calendars, and changing encryption. The app bar shows when you are offline, and the account menu at the foot of the sidebar shows when the device last synced.
Airplane mode (in Settings › Privacy & security, or the Airplane quick tile) stops Rollov reaching the network on its own on this device, for networks where you don't want it to. Sync now syncs once when you choose.
Devices and the sync log
Settings › Sync & devices (or Sync log in the account menu) lists the devices that sync your account, each named for what it runs on, such as "Mac · Chrome", with when it last synced. Rename this device so you can tell it apart, or remove one you no longer use.
Below, the sync log shows what this device sent to your account, what came in and from which device, and syncs with Google, iCloud and other calendars or your phone's calendar. Entries are grouped by day; tap a title to open it. Chips show only what was sent, received, calendar syncs or problems, and problems are in red. Rollov retries on its own, so a problem that is followed by a successful sync has fixed itself.
The log is kept on this device only, for 30 days. It records which items changed, never what changed in them, and shows titles only while the app lock is open.
Updates
Rollov updates itself in the background. When a new version is ready, a notice offers Update; nothing reloads until you tap it. Settings › About Rollov shows your version, Check for updates, and What's new, with every release's notes. Check for updates in the account menu opens that page and checks straight away.
Still stuck?
Write to support@rollov.app with what happened and which device you were on. Questions, bugs and ideas are all welcome.
In the app: Settings › Help has the guided tour and a walkthrough for each part.
